Happy holidays

I made this little number from a vintage reproduction Butterick 5032

I love it it was one of the easiest dresses I've put together. I edited the picture to make it look more vintage and pinup thats my Bestest "CC".

Winter outfit

So I tried for the first time sewing pants and not just any pants 1940's high waisted pants. I used the Simplicity 3688

I used a Bottom weight material which though cheaper then most heavy fabrics it attracts every hair on the planet even though I love the pants I may do another pair in a better fabric.

I also thought I wanted A cute little Beret to wear so I whipped it up useing a pattern I found online

one of my holiday dresses

This was a particularly tricky dress only because I decided to add Piping to the bodice. Its turned out great though. I use Rose colored Broadcloth and Cream colored piping.

I drew inspiration from Sew weekly's "make this look" this dress is from the same Simplicity Pattern 2588

Embarrassing Inspiration

I am inspired by Glee not only because I love Music and performers but I love the Wardrobe. Rachel is often wearing Vintage wear in this current season and I'm loving it. I have a couple of dresses that I want to a simulate. I found some pictures to share with you all.

Spider man

Well this morning my intentions were to go to Hancock Fabrics because there was a sale on Simpicity Patterns and I wanted to grab a few. I brought my daughter Luna ,Who is totally into Spider man right now.when she saw some Spider man Flannel she instantly said "Mommy Spider man Jammies!"I couldn't resist it was on sale as well. I then grabbed a pattern for Pajamas in her size for $1.99.
And here's how it turned out (sorry for not having a clearer pic she was all excited)

Song Bird

So I figured out my sewing machine :) I finished up my Circle skirt and it Turned out beautiful
I used bottomweight cloth so It would be heavier for the colder months. I followed Casey's elegant Musings sew along. It was one of the easiest Garments I have ever sewn and I actually drew out the pattern myself.

:(

My sewing machine has decided not to work anymore. I am completely depressed right now I am in the middle of two projects. I decided to take part in the Circle Skirt sew along at Casey's elegant Musings and decided while I was at it I would add in the petticoat. I was almost done with both but my machine made some sad noises and just stopped all together. The more upsetting thing is that My fiancee just got that for me to replace my 40yr old Singer. Well my mom is now taking a look at it and hopefully I'll get a call from her soon.
on the upside I did stake some claim in my house for a permanent area for my sewing adventures and my Honey Bought a desk for me as well. When I get my machine back I will post some pics.

An Introduction

Much of the reason I wanted to create a blog was to share the many things a create on a weekly basis. Since starting my fascination with sewing retro clothing I have found many Great blogs out there that helped shed light on what Women wore on a daily basis in the 40's and 50's.Casey's Elegant Musings,Sew Weekly, Gertie's Blog for better sewing
are just some of the many Helpful blogs I have com across. So this first Post is a thanks to all you Creative Ladies out there blogin' your little tushes off!!

Its Chilly out so I decided to sew a few Jackets one of which is inspired by an outfit Jane Russel Wears in "Gentlemen Prefer Blonds"

I love the black and white with the yellow and I thought instead of a cape since I and short and I would be drowing in all that fabric I would make a caplet

let me know what you think :)
